The beginnings…
Since this is my first post on The Light, I’d like to make it dual purpose. The first purpose will be introducing myself and what I will contribute to this blog and the second purpose will be to guide you on where you should start with your Internet Marketing experiences.
I am a Computer Engineer, an Electrical Engineer, webmaster, geek, and self taught internet entrepreneur. I will be providing information to this blog concerning search engine news, search engine optimization tactics, marketing tips, and company reviews. I can guarantee my posts will be 100% original with 0% fluff. I will try to keep my posts low-tech as possible, but as we all know the internet is a high-tech place to do business.
I’ll begin my contribution to The Light with the following:
The Beginnings…..
We all have had that GREAT IDEA! that was going to be big on the internet and make us millions.. right? Most of us have failed miserably with a lot of these ideas and I’m going to tell you why. If I built a house on dirt, it would either:
A) Fall over or
B) Sink
Why is this? It’s simple.. as with a house, our internet webpages need a foundation.
This sounds like a simple concept.. and it is. The solution is also simple if you know a bit of programming. Let’s look at our scenario again.
Okay, you have your great idea and you’ve made a great webpage for your great idea. Now here is where the foundation comes in to play. Any great website on the internet has millions of backlinks. We need a kick-start to our webpage. Anywhere from 6,000 – 10,000 backlinks will do. To get these backlinks you need a foundation site. Most foundation sites are database driven sites such as one of my own: United States Airports . Beleive it or not, United States Airports has over 6,000 pages driven by one php script!
To create this foundation, you purchased a content database with information. This information could be millions of things from hotel locations, airport locations, gaming information and much more. The possibilities are limitless here. How many times have you searched for a great vacation spot and came up with a site containing address information and not really much more than that?? Tons I’m sure.. and those are all foundation sites.
So before you release your great idea to the internet, be sure to spend a few months developing foundation sites. These sites will ensure you rank higher than your competion in search engine results.
If you have any tech questions, ask in the comments.
